WEAVING WATER: Looming
A collaborative art project reflecting on climate resilience, regeneration and ecological care.
What will Bribie Island’s community develop in a one-week intensive art project?
Weaving Water: Looming is a land-art residency and public art project created and delivered by Treecreate Studio Inc. The project gathers a small group of 4–6 visiting artists collaborating with online artists and researchers focused on environmental sustainability and ecological care to work with Pumicestone Indigenous Education and Employment Council, Bribie Island Community Kindergarten and other local community groups to create an artwork for the Bribie Island Nature Festival.
Leading up to October, artists will work with community through online co-design sessions and face to face workshops to plan and design the artwork. The projects focus on the use of local plant materials designed to break down in nature, emphasising the role of regenerative design in a local context. The resulting site-responsive works will feature during the festival to spark conversations around coastal adaptation, climate resilience and collective stewardship.
