Island Sanctuary: Fact or Fiction

Opening Night Discussion where art, science and nature are discussed.

Can we really call Bribie Island a sanctuary?
Bribie Island’s greeting sign welcomes visitors to a “flora and fauna sanctuary” but is the fact or fantasy? Join us for an evening under the stars at the Bribie Island Nature Festival’s opening night and meet some of our featured artists and scientists read for the weekend ahead.

Through a dynamic fusion of scientific inquiry and artistic perspective, we’ll weigh to scales on the health of Bribie’s nature. We celebrate the triumph - from the dedicated turtle conservation efforts to the vital habitat restoration - while confronting the friction points. These include the impact of unlimited 4 wheel-drives on our shorelines and the encroachment of invasive species into the national park from the neighbouring pine plantation. Come engage with the experts and visionaries defining the future of our unique island sanctuary. Keep the lively discussion going afterwards with a post-event reception.
